As a young Democrat, my parent's instilled in me a deep appreciation for public servants.  The police officers who protect us, firefighters who rescue us, postal workers who connect us, and yes, even the politicians who serve us.  While many others may hold politicians in low regard, I have always understood the importance of their work and a desire to serve.  It's not enough to stand on the sidelines and complain.
